Before practicing law, Attorney Kim Jung-wook worked as a life scientist, conducting research on cell signaling mechanisms related to cancer and diabetes, immune cell signaling in rheumatism, and sustained-release drug technology. During his doctoral studies, he developed a strong interest in the legal protection of intellectual property rights, particularly patents and copyrights, as well as legal advisory for pharmaceutical companies, environmental movements, and public interest litigation. This passion ultimately led him to a career in law.
Attorney Kim has extensive experience handling patent infringement lawsuits, trade secret disputes, trademark and design infringement cases, and IT development contract disputes. He has also worked on copyright infringement matters involving computer programs, website programs, advertising works, font designs, applied art, web novels, and webtoons.
He has provided legal counsel to numerous startups, authors, inventors, and institutions, including Korea University, Sogang University, the Seoul National University of Science and Technology Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the Korea Invention Promotion Association, the Korean Intellectual Property Office, members of the Korea Federation of SMEs, and the Seoul Startup Hub.
Additionally, he serves as a legal advisor and committee member for several organizations, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Challenge Korea Operating Committee, the Korea Federation of SMEs (Yellow Umbrella) Management Support Legal Advisory Committee, the Writers Association of Korea, the Korea Tourism Organization's Tourism Business Support Center, and Seoul’s Franchise and Distribution Transaction Consultation Center.
